- You must live in Australia or
New Zealand.
- You must have a copy of NBA
Live 07.
- You must have a broadband (ADSL,
cable, etc) internet connection that you can use to play the game online.
- You must
have plenty of motivation to play all your games, and be active in the community.
| Connecting
with Opponents |
- Opponents can use the forum
or online chat mediums (ICQ, MSN, etc) to organise the particular date/time
they play. If a suitable time cannot be agreed upon, then please contact a
league admin.
- The host
of each particular match is determined by the home and away schedule. The
player who is playing at home, hosts the game.
- To connect to your opponent,
you will need their IP address. If a host needs help in obtaining their IP,
then please contact a league admin.
- If you
are hosting and behind a firewall, you will need to open UDP port 3658 so
that opponents can connect to you.
- The host
of any particular game, must use these settings:
Skill Level: Superstar
Quarter Length: 7 minutes
Rules: On
Game Speed: 45
All other settings : default
- If a
host does not correctly set the rules, then please advise a league admin.
- Freestyle Superstar has been switched off in an attempt to keep the game as real as possible.
- It's a good idea to close down
all downloads and programs before playing online.
- Lower
your resolution and detail settings if needed, this helps to make online play
run smoother.
- In particular, turning off Crowd Animation and Bench Detail seems to help a lot.
The sportsmanship rules have been introduced to try and weed out unrealistic play. The guidelines are as follows:
- The
obvious - Don't abuse or attack your opponent throughout the game. Remember,
it's just a game!
- Stealing
the inbounds pass. This is NOT acceptable, as it allows you
to exploit a major flaw in the game. Do not intentionally try and steal the
inbounds pass. If you do steal it, you must run it out of bounds and return
the ball to your opponent. If your opponent tries to make a wild pass, eg,
a long pass to try and make a fast break, then it is deemed you do not have
to return the ball, as the player has chosen to make a risky pass.
- Cake
baking. This will no longer be tolerated. Do not repeatedly drive under the
ring, wait for all defenders to jump, and then dunk or lay-in the ball. This
has become too wide spread amongst some teams, and is a major reason for unrealistic
field goal percentages.
- Do not
repeatedly use the one player. Excessively scoring with a player for the purpose
of boosting or leading stats is not in the spirit of the game.
- Excessive
intentional fouling is forbidden. Fouling teams just so they can't get a shot
up isn't in the spirit of the game. If it is close near the end of a game
it is acceptable.
- Excessive
use of any tactic is forbidden. Eg, excessive full court press, excessive
double team, excessive posting-up and dunking, etc.
- You can take a charge, but only in the keyway. If you accidently take one out of it and get the call, you're to give the ball back. One foot applies to being in the key also.
- If an inbounds pass goes out of bounds because a player was next to the receiver when they try and spin to receive, the ball should be returned (happens a fair bit and can be abused).
- No using the same player on defense (ie, roaming with the centre or point guard).
Vague guidelines would be defend the post down low and the perimeter up high, but if the ball is moving quickly you can run with the one player and make a switch later.
Teams that receive excessive complaints about not following these guidelines and not playing in the spirit of the game will be ejected from the league. The league will not tolerate teams ruining the experience for everyone else.
- Results must be emailed by both players to the league admins straight after the game. Each player will need to use the save as text file function in the game to save the following: its own player stats, and the opponents player stats. The host cannot disconnect until both players have saved each of these stat files.
- Before emailing the stats, please archive them (ZIP/RAR).
- The results need to be emailed to the following email address:
aloresults@zoltrix.net
- If a player is found to tamper with the results before submitting them, they will be immediately ejected from the league.
- Please
report bad language, unsportsmanlike behaviour, bad gameplay, disconnects
on purpose, etc, to a league admin as soon as possible. Action will be taken.
- The Trade Deadline will be announced
at the start of each season.
- The League reserves the right
to take breaks due to holidays.
- Each
season consists of 29 games (each team plays each other once). Each player will be required to play 2-3 games a week.
- The best 8 teams from each conference
qualify for the playoffs.
- The playoffs (except the finals)
will be a best of 3 games format.
- The finals will be a best of
5 series.
- You must
use the rosters supplied by the league. Updated rosters will be supplied at the start of each round.
- A team may have no more than
12 active players.
- A team may not place a non-injured
player on the injury-list if that would give them less than 12 active players.
- Each team must post their preferred
roster on the forum every time they make a trade, sign a free agent, or release
a player.
- If an injury happens to a player
during online play, and that player is too injured to return for the rest
of the game, that particular player will miss the next match (one match only).
Both players need to report any such injuries to a league admin upon submitting
results.
- Only players may be included in trades.
- No trading of draft picks.
-
A maximum of two trades per week, per team is allowed (multi team trades will be considered one trade for each team if posted in the same time frame).
- All trades must be posted on
the forum and approved by a league admin before it's regarded as official.
- Trades will be less regulated with rules, but more restrictive on whether they're allowed to go through. This is simply to prevent unfair trades and situations of teams stacking stars. For the most part if you're trading for a star player expect your star player to have to be involved. Keep the ratings relatively similar, although there's reasonable space for movement here. Remember these are GUIDELINES, not strict rules, they're open to interpretation but this is the best that can be done without preventing so many trades with rules.
- A player may at any time be waived.
- After 24 hours, the team with the lowest overall rating to express interest in the player signs him.
- A team cannot release a player if that would result in the team having less than 12 non-injured players.
- Free Agents are signed by bidding on them in the Signings forum
- If a bid is not topped within 24 hours by another team the player is signed.
- If a team already has 15 players on its roster, it has to select a player to release upon a successful bid on a Free-Agent.
- The following awards are given
out at the end of every season, as voted on by the GMs.
- Sixth Man of the Year
- Defensive Player of the
Year
- Rookie of the Year
- Most Valuable Player of
the Year (MVP)
- GM of the Year
- All NBA 1st and 2nd Teams
- All Rookie 1st and 2nd Teams
- All Defensive 1st and 2nd Teams
- All International 1st and 2nd Teams
- Nominations for above awards
will be held via a private ballot.
- Mid-season
there will be a vote on the forum to decide what players are worthy of an
All-Star appearance.
- A GM may leave by resignation
or dismissal.
- The person on the top of the
waiting list replaces an outgoing owner.
- The League reserves the right
to remove GMs that behave in an offensive way towards other GMs or League
Officials or in another way threaten fair play.
