ALO have crowned their new champions for 2004-2005, the LA Lakers. After securing the best regular season record in ALO's short history, the Lakers have backed up in the finals to sweep through to their first ALO title.
The 4 pronged attack of Shaq, Duncan, Redd and Francis proved too much for the gallant Bucks, Lewis unable to continue his Eastern Conference final series heroics to leave them falling short in 3 games.
Stats cannot always tell the story, Milwaukee putting in solid showings in games 1 and 3 to trail by single digits late in the third quarters of those respective games, with late runs by the Lakers closing out the games on each occasion.
Player of the series was clearly Michael Redd, lifting an extra notch in the biggest of games, scoring 30, 31 and 35 in the 3 finals. While Lewis failed to shine against the might of the Lakers, his superb efforts in the Eastern Conference earned him the honour of being the most successful player of the playoffs.
Cameo efforts that deserve a mention include Strickland's game 3 17 minute effort that netted 26 points. Jerome James carved up Duncan in game 1 only to be overshadowed by league MVP Shaq with an impressive 31 point double-double.
As the curtains close on another successful ALO season, we look to the future and ponder who will take out season 3. Stay tuned for an announcement shortly and best of luck for next season. |
