News: New Season?
ALO League NewsAt present the ALO is in kind of a hiatus period, without the numbers for a new season using NBA Live 07 or 08, a new season hasn’t gotten off the ground. A lot of members are also turning to the console versions, after the latest PC version yet again is not next gen. The site will remain live for members to still use the forums, and for new members to sign up and look for some Aussies or New Zealanders to have a game with. Current ALO member Frenchlick is still the site administrator, and may or may not start up a new season at some point.

Discussions on ALO developments and the possibility of a new season can be found in the League News forum here.

Thanks to Showtime for the image

After the most tightly contested finals series in ALO history, the LA Lakers are once again the ALO Champs.

Under the guidance of new GM skip, the Lakers had a solid season, and have capped it off in spectacular fashion. In one of the closest playoff series the ALO has ever seen, the Lakers were taken to the brink by Showtime and his Cavs, but the Lakers withstood the charge and emerged victorious in five stunning games. Besides game 2, every game in the series was decided by 5 points or less.

The Lakers had impressive performances from key play makers Bryant and Odom, but the player who arguably contributed the most to the Lakers title run is none other then big man Carlos Boozer. After averaging 23.6 points, 11.2 rebounds and 2.2 steals during the finals, big man Boozer wins the 05/06 Finals MVP.

Congratulations to both teams who had an outstanding season.

As another ALO season draws to a close, I would like to thank all members who played this season. Also a big thankyou to members who gave me a helping hand; Icemave, voodoo, showtime, zmac, andy, hammer and stormcrow (if I missed anyone, feel free to abuse me =)

Picture VC after collecting a bounce pass alley and going between the legs in 2000. It's over.

ALO have crowned their new champions for 2004-2005, the LA Lakers. After securing the best regular season record in ALO's short history, the Lakers have backed up in the finals to sweep through to their first ALO title.

The 4 pronged attack of Shaq, Duncan, Redd and Francis proved too much for the gallant Bucks, Lewis unable to continue his Eastern Conference final series heroics to leave them falling short in 3 games.

Stats cannot always tell the story, Milwaukee putting in solid showings in games 1 and 3 to trail by single digits late in the third quarters of those respective games, with late runs by the Lakers closing out the games on each occasion.

Player of the series was clearly Michael Redd, lifting an extra notch in the biggest of games, scoring 30, 31 and 35 in the 3 finals. While Lewis failed to shine against the might of the Lakers, his superb efforts in the Eastern Conference earned him the honour of being the most successful player of the playoffs.

Cameo efforts that deserve a mention include Strickland's game 3 17 minute effort that netted 26 points. Jerome James carved up Duncan in game 1 only to be overshadowed by league MVP Shaq with an impressive 31 point double-double.

As the curtains close on another successful ALO season, we look to the future and ponder who will take out season 3. Stay tuned for an announcement shortly and best of luck for next season.

As the saying goes, there can only be one, and that one is the Sacramento Kings. After finishing 8th overall in the regular season, and 3rd overall in the Western Conference, the Kings saved their best for the playoffs. The Kings simply conquering everything in their path throughout the playoffs, loosing just two games, and beating the Bulls three games to one in the ALO Finals. After being blown out of the water in game one, loosing 93-68, the Bulls came back with a vengeance in the next three games. Winning game two 100-94, and loosing the next two in very close contests. Going down by 9 in game three, 93-84, and we had a heart pounder in game four, 80-77. Congratulations to Peaka for leading the Kings and winning the inaugural ALO Championship!

Congratulations to Icemave, in leading the Chicago Bulls and winning the Eastern Conference title. Another team that stepped up a notch for the playoffs, knocking out some big contenders.

Finals MVP, who else but Peja Stojakovic. Peja played a huge part in leading the Kings into the playoffs, and he left nothing in reserve as he lead the Kings to the title. On the way to knocking off the Bulls, Peja collected an average of 27 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3 assists.

That's it for the first ALO season, overall a pretty successful beginning I would say. Thanks to all the great members for there participation this season, without you guys it wouldn't have been possible. Lets hope there are a lot of good seasons to come.

We apologise that the finals results aren't up on the stats database yet, magicRob has been flat out with other commitments, but will add them as soon as he gets a chance.

Stay tuned for draft updates and more info about next season coming in the near future!
